Bloom is an interactive sculpture series inspired by nature and the cultural fusion of Asian and Latin influences within Los Angeles’s Koreatown, designed for the new Pio Pico Pocket Park. Drawing from South Korea's national flower, the mugunghwa (also known as hibiscus or "jamaica" in Latin American cultures), Bloom celebrates cultural symbols through abstracted organic forms. The structure reflects the gentle bowl shape of a Papasan chair, while colorful steel spokes echo the vibrant designs of Mexican Acapulco chairs and traditional Salvadoran hammocks. Perched on a swivel sphere base, the sculptures balance gracefully, symbolizing harmony between the natural and built environments and inviting playful interaction.
