ARCHITECTURE

We believe architecture should create spaces that tell stories, inspire connection, and shape the moments of everyday life.

Our studio approaches each project as a response to its people and its place. Rather than working within a singular style, our work is guided by a thoughtful, process-driven approach that explores the unique character of every site and client to shape architecture that feels authentic, meaningful, and deeply connected to its surroundings. Grounded in timeless design principles and a celebration of artistic craft, our work also embraces moments of playfulness - creating spaces that feel joyful, surprising, and alive.

As a full-service licensed architectural practice, we guide projects from early concept and permitting through construction and completion across a range of residential and public projects.

Based in Los Angeles, we work throughout Southern California and beyond.

 ART

Our site-responsive public artworks are conceived as extensions of the built environment, integrating placemaking initiatives with interactive elements that enhance the user experience and activate space. Drawing from our architectural background, we approach each piece with an understanding of scale, material, light, and movement - creating works that are not simply placed within a site, but become part of its spatial narrative.

We are passionate about creating art that brings people together. Each project is a unique reflection of the people and places we serve, emerging through an exploration of theme, medium, and form that responds directly to its context.

This experimental and interdisciplinary approach lies at the heart of our creative practice, where art and architecture inform one another to shape spaces that invite connection, curiosity, and discovery.

 OUR STUDIO

Mandy Palasik Studio (M/PAL) is a women-led, Los Angeles–based integrative design studio curating experiences at the intersection of architecture/art/community.

&nbsp;&nbsp;
We create residential and public spaces that are deeply meaningful and reflective of the people and places we serve.

Built on 15+ years of professional experience, our studio emerged from a desire to move beyond the constraints of conventional architectural practice. We take an integrative approach that blends art and architecture, merging creativity with technical expertise and building science to craft spaces that are imaginative, enduring, sustainable, and deeply rooted in context.
Our studio operates as a highly collaborative practice, working with designers, artisans, engineers, fabricators, and community stakeholders to bring expertise, creativity, and innovation to each project.

THE PROCESS

At the heart of our work is a design process that values authenticity, context, and connection. Each project begins with understanding the unique identity of the site/landscape and the people who will inhabit it - balancing their needs, goals, and values to shape spaces that feel grounded and true to their surroundings.

Rather than working within a singular form, medium, or style, we approach each project as a fluid response to its particular context. The result is a diverse body of work that spans custom homes, civic spaces, and public art installations, unified by a shared methodology and design philosophy.

Design creates the physical framework of a project, but it is only one part of the process. Equally important is the experience a space creates. Through careful attention to form, light, material, movement, and atmosphere, we curate how people encounter and inhabit a place.

Our goal is to create spaces that do more than function—they invite curiosity, reflection, play, and joy. By intentionally shaping the experiences that unfold within them, we design environments that foster meaningful connections between people and the places they share.

SOLA SPANISH BUNGALOW

Location: South Los Angeles, CA

Scope: Renovation, Interiors, Outdoor Design

	<img width="3878" height="2909" width_o="3878" height_o="2909" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/cd9bcff74eb61d56a50172316199f1d88c162a1dae84d818f25bba7875007656/IMG_6975-2.jpg" data-mid="180504438" border="0" data-no-zoom src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/cd9bcff74eb61d56a50172316199f1d88c162a1dae84d818f25bba7875007656/IMG_6975-2.jpg" />

Located in a quintessential South LA neighborhood lined with Spanish-style homes, this modest 1920s bungalow sought some love after a century of wear and tear. With settled foundations and slightly askew walls, we took on the challenge of integrating clean lines to blend modern with traditional.&nbsp;

The original Santa Fe style plastered arch between the former living and dining area serves as a threshold between old and new. Keeping the 1920s charm of the existing living area, the compartmentalized dining, kitchen, and laundry areas were consolidated to create distinct zones for living and entertaining, separated by a central storage wall. An expansive glass door was added to the back of the home, flooding the common areas with natural light with views of the beloved Palo Verde tree and desert scape in the front and the lush garden in the back.

The backyard landscaping was inspired by Southern California’s ubiquitous kidney bean swimming pools, Luis Barragan’s pink walls, and a Mediterranean planting palette. The former sea of sod was transformed into a wildlife habitat with a mix of fruit trees and edible plants to create a bountiful and aromatic retreat. A pergola was added to create an outdoor dining area with a bougainvillea backdrop.

This 580 SF ADU is&nbsp; a sanctuary for work, play, and connection. Inspired by the timeless charm of Lakewood’s midcentury homes, its sculpted façade and angled roof overhang&nbsp; playfully honor the past.&nbsp;Blurring the line between indoors and out, the ADU breathes with its surroundings. Sunlight and fresh air flow through expansive openings, while lush green screens weave nature into the architecture, transforming the structure into a living, growing extension of the landscape—a place to recharge, create, and thrive.
