Wallpaper, 2023 Collage, painted paint scraps on wood stud
36” x 48” x 2.5”
Wallpaper is a reconstructed collage of layered paint and wallpaper scraps meticulously extracted from the interior of a 100-year-old home in South Los Angeles. The project explores the material composition of our physical confines through the lens of preservation and sustainability. The reclaimed scraps become artifacts of past inhabitants' collective memories where color represents a period in the history of the home. The artifacts are reconstructed into a woven “wallpaper” that serves as an homage to the past.
